When I sit down and create artwork I try to do it from a life experiences that I or someone I love very much has or is going through. I created this sunrise a couple of days before my beautiful granddaughter Ashton’s 18th birthday for her, so that every day when she looks at it, she will understand that turning 18 is a new time in her life, nothing to be afraid of, nothing to run from, and certainly nothing to fear. It is a time to embrace and a time to grow into the wonderful woman that we all know she is more than capable of becoming, and just as the sunrises each and every day I hope with all my heart that she is reminded of just how special she is and how her beauty in this world only helps enhance those around her every time she gazes at this “JOHNNY” hanging on her wall. Life is GREAT.
